The GF-9494X Has New Clothes

Sharp GF-9494X

What I look for in a boombox/ghettoblaster:

Big (the bigger the better)
Mostly silver in color
One piece design (no detachable speakers)
Lots of chrome
Large woofers (chrome caps are a big plus)
Square/boxy design
Lots of knobs/switches/buttons
LED/Analog VU meters
Inputs for MP3 player

Here's one of my favorites. It's the Sharp GF-9494X manufactured in 1979. It was recently dressed with replica grille labels that I made with Photoshop using source images from eBay. The labels are a nice mix of pre-existing typefaces and hand-drawn elements (all vector shapes).

Isn't it a beauty?
