What I look for in a boombox/ghettoblaster:

• Big (the bigger the better)
• Mostly silver in color
• One piece design (no detachable speakers)
• Lots of chrome
• Large woofers (chrome caps are a big plus)
• Square/boxy design
• Lots of knobs/switches/buttons
• LED/Analog VU meters
• Inputs for MP3 player

Here's one of my favorites. It's the Sharp GF-9494X manufactured in 1979. It was recently dressed with replica grille labels that I made with Photoshop using source images from eBay. The labels are a nice mix of pre-existing typefaces and hand-drawn elements (all vector shapes).
